How did Quality Matters begin?

In the fall of 2003, MarylandOnline, Inc. began as a three-year grant funded by the Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education (FIPSE) entitled "Quality Matters: Inter-Institutional Quality Assurance in Online Education."

During this process, MarylandOnline developed a process to certify quality online components and courses.  After the completion of the grant, MarylandOnline continued Quality Matters and transitioned Quality Matters into a self-supporting organization through subscription fees for services, tools, and trainings.
